Teachers

Supporting teachers as they support students’ social emotional health through transformative relationships.

—  Teachers —

We help teachers, educational assistants, school counselors, administrators, and others reduce anger and violence in the classroom, while increasing students’ ability to practice self-control. Children develop lasting self-control through important relationships with adults. These relationships must hold three key ingredients: healthy respect, empathy, and a sense of belonging. We teach faculty how to build and maintain healing relationships in their work with children.

We offer direct training in the following:

  • Trauma-informed practices

  • Building trust with students and families

  • Developing a healthy idealization and appropriate respect

  • Setting and holding limits and expectations

  • Taking an empathic stance (without necessarily giving into student demands)

  • Fostering a deep sense of belonging in the classroom

  • Utilizing the faculty-student relationship along with other approaches

  • Evidence-based interventions to reduce anger and violence in the classroom
