Multicultural Application
Diversity
Our model is fundamentally sensitive to human diversity. The model’s cornerstone is focusing on the relationship between adult and child in an effort to deeply understand the child’s unique perspective. The model is non-prescriptive so it naturally lends itself to work with diverse populations and is sensitive to differing ages, creeds, nationalities, traditions, ethnicities, faiths, and sexual orientations.
All children need relationships with important adults. In this way we are all the same. And, in this way, our approach provides an ideal framework for fostering self-esteem and self-confidence for children, regardless of their ethnic, cultural, or economic background. One of the beauties of our model is its applicability across groups and in diverse settings.
All children need an admirable adult to learn from. All need the experience of having an adult who truly and deeply understands and appreciates their experience. All children need to be cherished.
