Supporting schools in applying evidence-based, trauma informed practice to support students’ social emotional needs, through relationships.
— Schools —
Many schools are witnessing an increase in student difficulties. Often these difficulties are a result of the students’ responses to childhood trauma. Students struggling as a result of trauma may inadvertently traumatize teachers. That is, the emotionally hurt child hurts the adult. Working with traumatized children can be likened to opening the proverbial Pandora’s Box. Our program teaches administrators and other stakeholders how to address these complex problems. Our evidence-based, neuroscience-informed program has been successfully used as the foundation for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
Administrators receive direct consultation in the following:
Understanding how traumatized students may, in turn, traumatize faculty
Supporting faculty in working with traumatized students
Developing relationship-based systems of support
Developing a school-community alliance through building student pride
Supporting faculty teamwork
Developing alternative programs
Evidence-based interventions to reduce anger and violence in the school
