Teachers
Supporting teachers as they support students’ social emotional health through transformative relationships.
— Teachers —
We help teachers, educational assistants, school counselors, administrators, and others reduce anger and violence in the classroom, while increasing students’ ability to practice self-control. Children develop lasting self-control through important relationships with adults. These relationships must hold three key ingredients: healthy respect, empathy, and a sense of belonging. We teach faculty how to build and maintain healing relationships in their work with children.
We offer direct training in the following:
Trauma-informed practices
Building trust with students and families
Developing a healthy idealization and appropriate respect
Setting and holding limits and expectations
Taking an empathic stance (without necessarily giving into student demands)
Fostering a deep sense of belonging in the classroom
Utilizing the faculty-student relationship along with other approaches
Evidence-based interventions to reduce anger and violence in the classroom
